Rail Baltic Estonia, the City of Tallinn and Leonhard Weiss have signed a contract worth EUR 9.8 million for basic infrastructure in the area of the future Ülemiste station and for the first phase of the Kantsi Tunnel. The first construction phase is due to be completed by 31st  October 2027. The tunnel will link Lasnamäe and Ülemiste, creating an additional railway crossing between Peterburi tee and Suur-Sõjamäe tänav for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and cars. The scope of the contract includes a new platform with access to the tunnel, as well as works for the standard-gauge Rail Baltica high-speed rail (HSR) line in the Ülemiste area, including embankments, drainage and utility lines. Over the coming years, Rail Baltic Estonia, Tallinn Airport and Mainor will invest almost EUR 500 million in the development of the Ülemiste area.
