railwayIn an economic context marked by rapid change and fierce competition on global markets, the Czech railway industry stands out as a real driver of growth and innovation for the economy.
The industry’s contribution of 2% to the country’s gross domestic product reflects not only its size but also its strategic relevance in a highly technical and competitive industrial sector. ACRI – the Association of Czech Railway Industry Companies – recently announced the latest statistics for this extremely important economic sector, which, with an annual turnover of around 5.4 billion EUR and more than 23,700 employees directly involved in production, research, and related services, has consolidated its position both domestically and in foreign markets.
The data clearly shows that in 2025, the remarkable performance of the Czech railway industry was largely supported by companies whose exports represent a significant part of their production. Their solid results were not limited to national borders but were directly reflected in their success on international markets, thus strengthening the Czech Republic’s reputation as a leading supplier in the global railway sector.
Last year, Czech companies in the railway industry significantly expanded their footprint on the global transport map through complex deliveries of trains and railway equipment, supplying everything from complete vehicles to critical components and digital control and safety solutions. These exports have found demand both in European Union member states and in regions outside the bloc, where requirements for sustainable mobility solutions and robust infrastructure are growing.
In 2025, companies in the Czech railway industry have strengthened their presence in international markets, both in Europe and beyond, by supplying complete trains, essential components, technological solutions, and systems for railway infrastructure. Their products and services have been delivered to major manufacturers in the field, transport operators, and infrastructure administrators, confirming the competitiveness of the Czech railway sector globally.
Exports continue to be a pillar of stability for this sector – they not only support turnover, but also serve as a barometer of competitiveness: foreign demand for Czech products and technologies indicates that the industry not only manufactures to high standards, but also innovates continuously. Czech suppliers are thus entering the supply chains of leading European manufacturers, international railway operators, and infrastructure managers, strengthening the Czech Republic’s reputation as a reliable supplier in an increasingly demanding global market.
“The results for 2025 confirm that the Czech railway industry has an extraordinary ability to succeed in a demanding competitive international environment and to consolidate its long-term presence in foreign markets. According to estimates by member companies, this year could see an increase in turnover of up to 5% compared to the previous year,” said Marie Vopálenská, CEO of ACRI.
The Czech railway industry reported strong export performance, with 52% of the production of companies operating in this sector being exported last year, worth CZK 68 billion (EUR 2.8 billion), announced ACRI – the Association of Companies in the Czech Railway Industry. Importantly, this industry has seen a 38% increase in exports over the last five years.
