steelThe World Steel Association (worldsteel) Board has announced key membership decisions for the new term, appointing seven steel producers as permanent members, including Türkiye-based ICDAŞ Steel Energy Shipyard and Transport Industry Inc., with Akgün Filiz representing Türkiye on the Board.
The new permanent members also include Mina Atef HENDY from Almaadi Steel (Egypt), Samyoung CHOI from Dongkuk Steel Mill Co., Ltd. (South Korea), Rodrigo GABRIEL from Grupo AG (Guatemala), Eva MANEIRO from Hydnum Steel S.L. (Spain), David SCAIFE from Marcegaglia (United Kingdom), and Mark MILLET from Steel Dynamics (United States).
In addition, K1-MET GmbH (Austria) has been accepted as an associate member, represented by Thomas Buergler.
The association also announced a significant change in its senior leadership, confirming that Henrik Adam will assume the role of Director General in mid-Q4 2026. Adam currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Tata Steel Netherlands Holding BV, as well as President of both EUROFER and VDEh.
With more than 25 years of experience in the steel and automotive sectors, Adam has held senior positions across production, R&D, sales, supply chain, and strategy throughout his career at Tata Steel Europe and thyssenkrupp. He previously served as CEO of Tata Steel Europe and CEO of Electrical Steel at thyssenkrupp, bringing over 15 years of top executive experience.
Henrik Adam will succeed Edwin Basson, who has led worldsteel for more than 15 years and is set to retire this year.
