Railroad Development Corp.

(RDC) has added James Kornas to its leadership team as executive vice president of business development. RDC is a privately held railroad investment and management company headquartered in Pittsburgh. Kornas brings two decades of rail-industry experience and leadership to the role. He most recently was EVP of rail at Ozinga; prior to that, he spent nearly a decade in VP roles at Patriot Rail Co. In his new role, Kornas will work to strengthen the performance of existing RDC investments while helping identify new opportunities for growth, RDC officials said in a press release. "James has earned the respect of people across our industry because he understands rail from multiple angles," said RDC Chief Operating Officer Ida Posner. "He's operated railroads, worked alongside customers, evaluated investments and understands what it takes to build businesses for the long term."

Vossloh

has secured a new framework agreement to deliver pre-assembled rail turnouts for Trafikveket, the operator of Sweden's rail infrastructure. The five-year agreement will take effect starting in 2027 and has an option to be extended for another three years. Based on expected order volumes, the contract with Vossloh is valued at about 70 million euros, Vossloh officials said in a press release. In April, Sweden adopted a rail network renewal plan that calls for 45 billion euros to be invested in rail infrastructure through 2037, with switches being an area of focus. To meet rising demand, Vossloh in May opened a new turnout plant in Sweden that has the capacity to produce up to 900 turnouts per year.

Alstom

last week reported results for the first quarter of fiscal-year 2026-27, which ended June 30. Orders for the quarter totaled 2.65 billion euros, down 37% compared to 4.1 billion euros in Q1 2025-26; while sales for the quarter totaled 4.73 billion euros, up 4.9% from 4.51 billion euros in the same period last year.
