The NSW Government has announced funding for 83 road safety upgrades across the state as part of a broader $2.8 billion road safety commitment outlined in the 2026-27 Budget.

A total of $230 million will be invested through the next stage of the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program, targeting high-risk locations on state roads with infrastructure designed to reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes.

The funded projects include safety barriers, rumble strips, shoulder widening, upgraded intersections and new pedestrian crossings at identified crash hotspots and key transport corridors.

Of the state’s total road safety funding in 2026-27, 62 per cent will be directed towards regional areas.

Several projects are already in development, with the remaining works expected to be delivered over the next three years.

NSW Minister for Roads and Regional Transport, Jenny Aitchison, said the upgrades would focus on improving safety outcomes for motorists and local communities.

“Every life lost on our roads is one too many. These targeted upgrades are about making high-risk areas safer and helping more people get home to their loved ones,” Aitchison said.

“We’re investing in practical safety improvements where they’ll have the greatest impact, reducing the risk of serious crashes and saving lives across NSW.”
